This week we announced Paul Mears, Matthew Campbell-Hill and Michael Bell as our new senior advisers who have joined ZPB’s wider network of associates. They work along-side core team members to help our clients understand challenges, navigate the complexities of the health and care market and be able to form more productive partnerships with the NHS. All three have senior-level leadership roles in the NHS or the wider public sector.
Paul Mears
In fact, we have been working with them all for a number of years. Paul started off as our client when he was the CEO of Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and ran the Symphony integrated care partnership in Somerset. We were commissioned to run a year-long comms and engagement programme to enthuse clinical partners and help them understand and engage with the improvements to patient care that integration would bring. At the time, Paul was forming a number of innovative partnerships with the private sector – digital and traditional – care providers. His leadership and partnership skills managed to create productive relationships at a time when many companies were moaning about procurement and NHS engagement. It is partly these skills that Paul is helping ZPB clients develop, so their businesses can grow in a way that is symbiotic with the NHS. Paul is also offering insights into emerging models of care including primary care networks.
Michael Bell
Michael, also known as Mike, chaired our out-of-hospital-care forum, which we convened with Healthcare at Home Ltd and a number of private organisations and NHS members which over the course of two and half years produced four insight reports into how multi-sector collaboration can add to better care outside acute settings. It’s the final piece of work contributed directly to the thinking behind parts of the long-term plan. With more than 20 years of board-level experience in the NHS, and is currently Chairman of Croydon Health Services and was vice-chair of London’s Strategic Health Authority. More recently Mike has been supporting our clients who provide NHS funded care to patients in partnership with the NHS, helping them understand the changing systems and the formation of integrated care partnerships and navigate procurement.
Matthew Campbell-Hill
For the last two years, Matthew has been a key member of Push Doctor’s strategy and governance advisory board – which ZPB helped set up and manages – helping them work with an increasing number of STPs and GP practices bringing digital primary care to over 1.2 million patients. He also chairs their patient engagement forum which was recently cited as good practice by the CQC and contributed as evidence to Push Doctor being rated “outstanding” for well-led in their latest CQC inspection. Matthew is an expert in emerging tech. He works with ZPB’s digital clients, helping them embrace new technologies and navigate regulatory hurdles including with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency. When not with ZPB, Matthew is a decorated Para-athlete and we follow him and the rest of TeamGB fencing in all their competitions.
ZPB exists to help an organisation form more productive partnerships, with the NHS, in social care and across life sciences. Our senior advisers are the next stage in being able to continue to do this successfully.
