Alastair Campbell recently blogged his speech to the Centre for Corporate Public Affairs in Melbourne, entitled ‘Speech on modern media, modern comms, modern strategy and why the Queen is a great communicator’.
Within the speech Campbell outlines the changing mood in modern media, particularly the democratisation of information with the social media revolution.
He also outlines his key principles of good communication – having Objectives, Strategies and Tactics (OST). This is an important lesson for any business or organisation to remember. It is a lesson often forgotten, which can lead to lack of team alignment, and a chance for the media and the public to pick up on errors and miss successes.
