Health reforms continue to cause waves in both the UK and the US, with Obama’s reforms likely to be highly scrutinised as he seeks re-election in the Autumn. We were interested to see analysis in last week’s Huffington post by US health care company Premier Inc, which calculated that a typical (US) hospital wastes up to $3.8 million a year on readmissions. It’s not too dissimilar to some work undertaken last year by ZPB and US health care company Sg2 which found that reducing readmissions could save more than £600m in PBR penalties.
