We found this article on the evolution of company logos and thought it was very interesting, demonstrating both the power of company logos and the direction the companies sought through their most recognisable public image.
Of note, certain companies have dropped their name from their logo, presumably because they felt it was recognisable enough – Shell for example – however, some have then decided to reinstate it – Renault.
So far, our logo has evolved just once, going from this in 2009:
